Washington State Pollution
Liability Insurance
Since January 1, 1996 Washington State's Pollution
Liability Agency (PLIA) has been offering pollution liability
insurance for heating oil tanks that provide space heating for homes,
small businesses, and churches. This program provides up to $60,000
coverage for cleanup of contamination in case of leak or spill. This
program is being funded by all Washington State heating oil dealers.
We are proud to have a part in this fine program.
Pollution liability insurance will be provided for all active
heating oil tanks; underground, basement, or above ground. Heating oil
tanks that are no longer in use, or tanks solely used for industrial
process or generation of electrical energy will not be covered.
A heating oil tank owner who wishes to participate in this program
must register their tank with PLIA. There is no cost to the
homeowner for this insurance, the cost is paid by your heating oil
dealer.
