VFDA Heating Oil Charity Program Begins Anew in Vermont

The Vermont Fuel Dealers Association is once again starting up its annual Patch Chit Program, which helps deliver heating oil to needy residents, according to an article published in Monday’s Burlington Free Press. Each member of the Vermont Fuel Dealers Association will donate up to 150 gallons of heating oil to a select customer who is in financial need. At the same time, the VFDA raises donations from various community resources. These funds are then used to “Split the Ticket” and help pay for the cost of fuel delivery. This program has been in existence for over 20 years. Last year, over 5,000 gallons of heating oil were delivered to needy Vermont families.
As winter comes, many organizations will be lending assistance to heating oil customers facing a difficult time. In addition, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program also helps heating oil consumers who need assistance. The LIHEAP program was detailed in this blog posted earlier this month on HeatingOil.com.
